Wayne’s Ski & Cycle is a retail store specializing in cycling, skiing, fitness equipment, and winter apparel. We have a diverse and fun-loving staff that have many different facets of interests and experiences. Our aim is to stay on the leading edge of the industries we are involved in to best serve our customers in supplying the products and services that are right for them, as well as furthering events in the community that promote a healthy and fun lifestyle.
On November 1, 1976, Tyrol Ski and Sports opened in Mason City. Six years and 11 months later, the store moved to a downtown location and became Wayne’s Ski and Cycle owned and operated by Wayne Blaisdell. In 1998, the store moved to a new location on the West end of town near where the movie theater is now. Spring 2004 brought about a change of owners, with Matt Curtis buying the store from Wayne but keeping the business name.
Our staff strives to be part of the community that we have grown to love and appreciate, and we do this in many ways. We sponsor community rides such as the Monday Night group ride from our shop and events/organizations such as Bicycle Blues and BBQ, Cannonball ‘Cross, North Iowa Touring Club, and Spin Devo Junior Race Team. We believe that if we help create and support a strong, active community, they will not only support us in our endeavors but also support each other and make Northern Iowa a great place to live and visit.
Today, we continue to strive to provide new opportunities and technologies that we believe will benefit our customers. From motion sensing cameras and lasers using Specialized’s RETUL for bike fitting to our premium stone grinder for servicing skis and snowboards, our employees have the expertise and experience to provide the right experience for you.
