An energetic RAGBRAI 2021 route testing team, comprised of approximately 35 bicyclists and a couple support vehicles, stopped in Cherokee Sunday for lunch at Carey’s Cafe in downtown Cherokee.
Cherokee’s Citizen of Every Year Jim Adamson noticed the dozens of bikes dotting South 2nd Sreet sidewalks and alleys and checked it out.
“I stopped downtown along Highway 59, parked my car and took some pictures of the RAGBRAI test riders,” said Jim. “I talked with them and they told me they were from all over Iowa plus one in Colorado. A lady name Janet told me they use digital technology to. document the road as they travel marking potholes in bad places and pavement and any other clues that RAGBRAI riders would appreciate knowing about as they make their way across the state of Iowa.
“A man named Scott told me they will continue riding their bicycles throughout the planned first day of RAGBRAI which is it a total of 84 miles from the Le Mars beginning to Sac City.
