RAGBRAI proved to be a profitable weekend for the city of Keokuk.
Organizers say the bulk of the revenue, around $36,000, came from pre-event parking.
Local businesses also cashed in on the tourist crush as RAGBRAI fell on the same weekend as the Crazy Days Sidewalk Sale.
Officials say regional events only boosted profits higher.
“There was so much going on with the citywide garage sales, Crazy Days, RAGBRAI Musicians Memorial, the paegent over in Nauvoo,” Main Street Keokuk Inc. executive director Joyce Glasscock said. “There was a lot of people in town this weekend and the merchants capitalized on it.”
