During last year's RAGBRAI, a producer at the Kelly Clarkson Show met a few kids from Iowa. They were part of the Dream Team, a youth bicycling program based in Des Moines.
The producer was so inspired by their group that he booked them to come on the show, all the way in New York.
this year’s team is the most diverse in its 28-year history and is made up of 65 kids, ages 12 to 18 from across central Iowa. Some know how to ride a bike, though eight of them still don't. But come July, they'll all be riding during RAGBRAI.One of the program’s 62 mentors is Scott Matter.
"It’s a chance for these kids to prove themselves and to the rest of the world that they can do the hardest things," Matter said.
