Des Moines local artists and residents have a unique opportunity to showcase their work in the 2024 Trail Art Corridor Contest.
The Des Moines Parks and Recreation said in a news release the aim of the initiative is to expand the existing art corridor, which began in 2022 along several trails. The art is displayed on 11 sign panels that when viewed from the perspective of a walker or biker on the trail, form a single piece.
The contest runs until July 7, and is available to all Des Moines-based artists and residents over the age of 18. In addition to being added to Des Moines' growing public art collection, the 12 winners will receive a $500 prize.
