What is the Iowa Scholastic Mountain Bike League?
The organization is a grassroots organization dedicated to promoting the sport of mountain biking among the youth of Iowa, and to bring mountain biking as a club sport to Iowa middle and high schools.
TheIowa Scholastic Mountain Bike League aims to fill a niche for students whose needs may not be met by traditional interscholastic sports. They provide an opportunity for young people to participate in mountain biking and experience the benefits of being part of a team.
They welcome and support diversity in ability, ethnicity, gender orientation, and skill level.
They are a grassroots organization that relies on the support of our community to achieve their goals.

Cross country mountain biking is a fun sport that can be enjoyed anywhere there are dirt trails. It is a great way to get kids out on bikes enjoying nature that translates to ecological awareness. The overall positive nature of the sport reciprocates into life as participants gain consciousness to their responsibility to the world around them. We have seen social, physical, and academic improvements in many students that participate. The individualized nature of the competition attracts kids that may not participate in traditional school sports
