IMBCS next winds up back in Waterloo for what has emerged as an excellent event that IMBCS is honored to have on our schedule. The Cedar Valley Association for Soft Trails (CVAST) is proud to announce the Fourth Annual George Wyth Mountain Bike Race, taking place Sunday, August 16th. Lee Geisinger will once again take on the role of race director for the GWMTB Race.
The GWMTB Race is held in beautiful George Wyth state park, uniquely situated within the Cedar Falls/Waterloo metropolitan area. Families can enjoy all the experiences of camping and the great outdoors, but still be within arms reach of shopping, dining, and the city’s entertainment.
This year’s race is race #8 in the Iowa Mountain Bike Championship Series (IMBCS). The IMBCS is a cross-country mountain bike series featuring 11 events for the 2015 Season in various parts of the state, kicking off with the Illiniwek Abermination on April 19th and ending with Lake Ahquabi State Park on October 4th. In addition to each individual event offering it’s own awards, IMBCS has a point system in place to reward competitors at the end of the season in their respective categories.
This allows riders to travel around the state and compete at different venues while earning points towards a series championship. They offer different levels of competition so everyone can get involved from the seasoned experienced rider to the first time rider to those riders who only compete for fun and socialization. CVAST, the host of the George Wyth Mountain Bike Race, has chosen a variety of flights for all ages and skill levels.
