About Dr. Bob
Dr. Bob Breedlove, 53, died on June 23rd 2005 while competing in the RAAM transcontinental bike race.
He was a RAAM legend and one of the top endurance cyclists in the sport as well as an accomplished orthopedic surgeon at DMOS - Des Moines Orthopedic Centers in West Des Moines.
This year marks the 15th year since "Dr. Bob" left us. His famous signature line was "Its Another Day in Paradise".
As a tribute to Dr. Bob we'll show a 75 minute film called "Bicycle Dreams" that covers the 2005 edition of the Race Across America.
Bicycle Dreams focuses on several riders, including Jure Robic, Bob Breedlove, Cat Berge, Christopher MacDonald, and Patrick Autissier. From the starting line in San Diego, the film follows the riders across the country as they endure difficult weather, challenging terrain, and sleep deprivation. Several days into the race, Breedlove, a race veteran and endurance cycling legend, is killed in a head-on collision with a pickup truck. The other riders must deal with the aftermath of the accident and decide whether to continue the race.
THANKS to director Stephen Auerbach, an award-winning American Filmmaker & Television Producer & Record Producer, from Auerfilms for letting us show the film.
THANKS to fellow endurance cyclist, Paul Black for recommending this film.
