Description
This project is creating a 10’ wide trail that runs along the east/north
side of NW Beaver Drive from the north City limits to NW 66th Avenue. At NW 66th Avenue, the trail will cross to the south side of the road and connect into a trail link east of Beaver Drive. This
trail link will utilize a newly-constructed Kempton Bridge (Sycamore
Access) with a pedestrian crossing to connect to the Neal Smith trail
system.

Trailheads
Acorn Valley Campground, Walnut Ridge, Lakeviuew Boat Ramp, Bob Shetler Campgropund, and eventually Sycamore Access.
Sites & Attractions
This trail will not only connect to the Neal Smith Trail, it will connect several Parks along Saylorville Lake.
History of the Trail
The City of Johnston worked with Shive-Hattery, Inc. (Engineers) and MPS Engineers (Contractor) on this $2.6 million dollar trail that is
scheduled for completion in June 2017.

Future Plans
Planned Mileage: 3 miles - Phase I opened in April 2015 from NW 85th Street to NW 63rd. The entire project is scheduled for completion in June 2017
