Connecting to Central Iowa Trails from Johnston has been difficult. The term “you can’t get there from here” (on a bike) comes to mind.
Our group, now called Johnston Trailblazers, held zoom meetings for the last few months. Goals are to connect our Johnston trails with surrounding Central Iowa Trails, improve safety, wayfinding and promote creation of Bike and Water Trailhead at Merle Hay & I-80.
The Johnston citizen group secured an AARP Challenge Grant to help fund new wayfinding signs, which mark the City’s bike and trail routes.
