After a brief pause for sticker shock when bids came in 20 percent over the estimate, work on the next phase of the PlyWood Trail will commence.
The Le Mars City Council approved a $2,307,862.58 contract with Godbersen-Smith of Ida Grove during its Tuesday, May 16 meeting. The only other bid was $2,355,961.15 from RP Constructors, LLC of North Sioux City. Both were well above the $1.93 million estimate.
The bids were opened on April 18 and discussed during PlyWood Trail Executive Board meetings on April 25 and May 2. The bid was to be awarded during the May 2 City Council meeting but it was pushed back for two weeks.
