In triathlon, Cassidy - or Cassie - Hickey traveled the U.S. competing in draft-legal Olympic-style races, including the Flatland Triathlon held in West Des Moines each year. A shoulder injury kept her out of the pool, but not off the bike where she's become one of the top young female cyclist in the country. In addition to winning the Bob Cook Memorial Hillclimb, a race from Idaho Springs, Colorado at 7,000 ft., to Mount Evans at 14,000 ft, she's been victorious at the Snake Alley Criterium and Quad Cities Criterium during the Memorial Weekend of racing in Iowa.

In 2022 she earned a spot on one of the top development teams in the country - the LUX Cycling Development Team, managed by Des Moines' Chris Daggs. On LUX, Hickey rode alongside Waukee cyclist Marisa Boaz in the biggest races in the US, from the Redlands Classic to Tulsa Tough, as well as the U.S. National Championships. In the fall, she joined the Blue/Stages Cycling Team for Cyclocross, racing with Sunny Gilbert and Eric Brunner. She recently talked with BikeIowa contributor Dave Mable to talk about the road to her success and her future aspirations as a cyclist.

Whether representing the U.S. at multiple World Championships, racing a summer season on the road, fall in cyclocross or racing with her college teammates at Colorado Mesa University, Hickey strives for the top. Currently traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe chasing UCI points in cyclocross, her 2022-2023 hopes pinned on wearing the stars and strips at the Cyclocross World Championships once again.
