With warming weather, many are taking to the roads and trails around eastern Iowa with their bike.

Bicycles do have the right of way in the state of Iowa, but it's important as bicyclists to remember that you're sharing the road with vehicles much larger than you, and to always be aware of your surroundings.

"Just being cognizant of where cars are if you're coming up to an intersection, what the traffic is doing at the moment, who's got that green light. You just can't assume that, because you're on a bike. everyone's going to see you and everyone's going to be nice to you just because you're on a bike," explains Austin Vosdingh, a retail manager at Hall Bicycle Company in Cedar Rapids.
