Le Mars City Council members had a discussion about the 2021 RAGBRAI plans, for which Le Mars is slated to be the starting point on July 25.
City Administrator Jason Vacura said questions from the Community Services Committee arose about if the ride was still a go, and concerns if Le Mars still wants to be a part of it.
Vacura said at that time he would bring it to the council for discussion.
Vacura, Mayor Dick Kirchoff and members of the Le Mars RAGBRAI planning executive committee took part in a statewide phone call on Friday, Jan. 15, with route communities and RAGBRAI officials.
“We listened to what Director Dieter Drake said. They were enthusiastic and confident that it could still happen. They are working through quite a few details with an event that size,” Vacura said.
“They did say that whether this year, if they have it, they’re not expecting communities to go above and beyond with what past years have had,” Vacura said, referring to such things as entertainment.
