Conventions are canceled. Sports are spotty.Fairs could be fatal. And tourism has gone ta-ta.

Now in the seventh month of the COVID-19 pandemic,Des Moines'tourism bureau is focusing on the folks at home,reminding Iowans of the many fun, outdoor activities Des Moines has to offer before the weather takes a Midwestern turn for the worst.

A new video from Catch Des Moinesfeatures trails and parks in Central Iowa, including High Trestle Trail, Grey's Lake and Jester Park.

"Whether your idea of outdoor adventure is exploring over 150 miles of water trails, popping an ollie at the nation's largest skatepark, or just having a brew at an outdoor beer garden, your happy place awaits youin GreaterDes Moines," actorScott Siepker says at the end of the ad as he tosses a cornhole bag.

Seven months into the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism in Des Moines remains slow. Catch Des Moines has tracked over 300 events in the area canceled due to the pandemic, resulting in an estimated loss of $284 million.
