#didyouknow - On July 2nd 1776 the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence during the American Revolution when thirteen colonies legally separated from Great Britain. After Congress voted for independence, it turned its attention to the Declaration of Independence, a statement explaining this decision and with verbiage debates and revisions the Declaration was finally approved two days later on July 4th.
