SHELDAHL, Iowa — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the report of an attempted child abduction did not happen.

Deputies were called to Sheldahl after a child reported a suspicious truck and ran off. After talking to the child, it appears the truck turned around toward the child but the child was never approached.

Investigators also talked with witnesses an did not find evidence of an attempted abduction.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about an attempted child abduction in Sheldahl to reach out to them.

Police say a man in a white two-door truck approached a child at the corner of the High Trestle Trail and Polk Street around 4:30 Wednesday.

They believe the man was attempting to abduct the child.
