Lake Country Cyclists (LCC) is a cycling club dedicated to the safety, recreation, and education of all types of cycling for all ages and skill levels. We are based out of Ankeny but also have members in Johnston, Bondurant, Polk City, and other towns along the High Trestle Trail.
We have our own weekly and special rides and also participate in event rides. Rides include the Monday evening Novice ride, Tuesday/Thursday fast paced rides, Wednesday weekday and Saturday social rides. We also have special event rides throughout the summer and winter season including the 4th of July ride in July and the Jingle Ride in December. Members enjoy a Fall and Spring banquet as well as other activities.
LCC was formed in 1992 and incorporated in 1993. As such we are celebrating our 25th anniversary year of incorporation.
The club is approximately 100 members and growing. Yes some are still original members!
The club was formed and incorporated James Lennie, Michael Bush, Kelli Belden, and Layton Miles. James is still around, though Michael passed away a few years ago. Layton is still riding with us.
The LCC Cycling Season is in full swing!
Our members get together for bike rides throughout the cycling season. Depending on the weather and wind, routes and mileage vary. Want to try out something? Show up and let us know! If enough folks are there to ride, several smaller groups can be formed. Join us and set your own pace!
