AGBRAI brought an estimated $1.2 million to $1.5 millioninto Iowa City's economy, after thousandsvisited the city to be part of thestatewide bike ride last month, according to Think Iowa City President JoshuaSchamberger.
"They are spending a lot of money on local businesses, goods and services for the time that they are here," Schamberger said. "That's why we put on RAGBRAI."
Local leaders gathered to celebrate the efforts of volunteers and city and county officials, while also announcingthe $5,018.91 donation made to United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties on Monday at theTerry Trueblood Lodge in Iowa City.
