Western Iowa Tech Community College has received an award for its efforts to cater to employees and customers choosing to commute by bicycle.
The Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO) and Siouxland District Health Department in a joint news release Friday said the college received the annual Bicycle Friendly Employer Award, which recognizes employers that support bicycling employees, customers and the bicycling community.
The organizations recognized the college for its outdoor bike rack, automatic doors for easy bicycle entry into a building, indoor cycling class at the wellness center, outdoor trail to a small lake and its shower facility, changing room and storage locker.
