The City of Waukee is taking a proactive
approach to pedestrian and bicyclist safety with the installation of new
“Look for Traffic” signs throughout the City. The yellow signs have
been installed on trails at major intersections in Waukee with the
messages “Look Right for Traffic” or “Look Left for Traffic.” Waukee
Police Chief John Quinn said the City is trying to avoid accidents
before they happen.
“It’s important that pedestrians, cyclists and
drivers follow traffic laws,” Quinn said. “At some of Waukee’s major
intersections, drivers and pedestrians forget to watch out for each
other. These signs are a gentle reminder for those using our trails to
be aware of the traffic moving through intersections they cross.”
The sign installation began the week of May 11, 2015.
“Keeping
our citizens safe is our number one priority,” Quinn said. “We also
want to keep visitors who utilize our trails safe. The ‘Look for
Traffic’ signs will have a positive impact in our City.”
