Happy Spring! Friends of Central Iowa Trails has an opportunity for you to get out and get involved during the April 30th, Grand Celebration of the High Trestle Trail! If you are not familiar with the High Trestle Trail it is a 25-mile trail connecting the towns of Ankeny, Sheldahl, Slater, Madrid and Woodward. Users cross a ½-mile, 13-story high, artistically restored bridge over the Des Moines River Valley between Madrid and Woodward. The bridge and its art are truly a sight to be seen! On April 30th, the trail communities will be hosting activities along the trail and within their towns between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm- although some towns have earlier breakfasts and late music and dancing scheduled. Friends of Central Iowa Trails is looking for volunteers to assist in providing information at the “Bridge” in shifts between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Don’t worry! I guarantee you’ll be briefed to have the answer for any question you might be asked! If you plan on attending the Celebration considering signing up for a shift at the bridge! If you weren’t planning on it- here’s a perfect excuse to get to the bridge and motivation to make it into a few of the towns for the festivities. You can email and let me know what times work best for you. There are two sides to the bridge so plenty of volunteers are needed! Happy Trails, Andrea Chase Trails Coordinator AChase@inhf.org
