Last month, it was revealed that the Iowa Falls community was selected as an overnight stop for the 2025 version of RAGBRAI - The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa - for the second time since 2021.
With that news, area towns are anticipating and/or expecting to be contacted regarding availability to serve as "pass-through" destinations for riders.
At February's Alden City Council meeting, board member Bob Hoversten revealed he had been contacted by event organizers, and would know in the coming weeks if Alden will be one of those community stops.
He asked if the rest of the council was on board with Alden serving as a potential pass-through town and all five members indicated they were in favor of welcoming the riders to the community. During the 2021 installment, and Alden RAGBRAI committee was forced and took on the task of organizing food vendors and other entertainment.
This year's event will take place July 19-25, and the route begins in Orange City. Overnight stops include Milford, Estherville, Forest City, Iowa Falls, Cedar Falls, Oelwein and Guttenberg.
