For almost 30 years the Dream Team has improved the lives of Des Moines kids through cycling and participation in RAGBRAI. Now it's partnering with an organization to do the same thing in Cedar Falls and Waterloo.
Founded in 1997, the Dream Team, headquartered in Des Moines, gives youths from challenging socioeconomic or social backgrounds the chance to learn to ride with peers and mentors and build their confidence and endurance in preparation for the July ride
Those who rack up 1,000 miles get to participate for free in the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. And if they complete RAGBRAI they get a free bike.
