The 52nd Des Moines Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa will be passing through parts of north-central Iowa this summer, with an overnight stop taking place in Forest City.
Organizers made the announcement of the overnight stops during an event on Saturday night.
Forest City will be the third overnight stop on this year’s route on Tuesday July 22nd. RAGBRAI will start on Saturday July 19th in Orange City with Expo Day, with the first overnight stop on Sunday night July 20th in Milford. The route then goes to Estherville, Forest City, Iowa Falls, Cedar Falls, Oelwein and Guttenberg.
Organizers say this will be the second shortest route and the sixth flattest in the event, with the total miles being 406 and 10,487 feet of climb.
This will be the fifth time that Forest City has been an overnight destination for RAGBRAI, being a host in 1982, 1987, 2002, and 2014.
