Urbandale officials plan to add bike lanes to Aurora Avenue and 70th Street next year.
As part of its Complete Streets program, Urbandale wants to provide bike lanes and a left turn lane on Aurora Avenue from 86th Street to 70th Street.
On 70th Street, the plan is for shared bike and traffic lanes from Hickman Road to Urbandale Avenue, and shared bike lanes and on-street parking from Urbandale Avenue to Meredith Drive.
New bike lanes would add regional connectivityBike lanes on the Aurora Avenue stretch would connect riders via local trails north to the Johnston to Urbandale Trail, which crosses under Interstate 80 and connects east to the Beaver Creek Trail.
