Twelve local artists have been picked to have their art displayed along multi-use trails in Des Moines.
Des Moines Parks and Recreation announced the winners of the 2024 Trail Art Corridor Contest on Monday. The first art installations were made in 2022 as a way to display local artwork and create a unique and enjoyable experience for everyone using the trails.
New artwork is being rotated into four existing corridors: Walnut Creek Trail, Neal Smith Trail, John Pat Dorrian Trail, and Carl Voss Trail. The Gay Lea Wilson Trial and Karras Kaul Connector Trail are also getting brand-new art installations as part of the project.
The winners are:
- Walnut Creek Trail: Hasan Tosunbegovic and Chandler Condon
- Neal Smith Trail: Bradford Johnson and Katie Guzzo
- John Pat Dorrian Trail: Mollie Wallace and Van Holmgren
- Carl Voss Trail: Autumn Rozario Hall and Clint Hansen
- Gay Lea Wilson Trail: Sadaget Aliyeva and Ramona Muse Lambert
- Karras Kaul Connector Trail: Julie King and John Bosley
Each winner gets $500. Check out their artwork in the slideshow:
