Chad Jensen, owner of The Bicycle Station and Jensen Oil Company, and his wife Julie were presented Thursday with this year’s Cornerstone Award given by Grow Clinton.
“It’s a big honor,” Chad said. “Julie and I are a big part of what’s going on at the moment, but we’re not a big part of how it’s lasted this long.”
Chad’s grandfather Bill Jensen opened Jensen Oil Company at 218 Main Ave. on Sept. 28, 1948, as a full-service Mobil gas station that expanded to offer home heating oil and rural fuel delivery.
On Sept. 28, 1968, Bill sold the business to his son Fred Jensen who possessed a dedication to community involvement and expanded the business’s delivery options to include wholesale auto parts and accessories.
The service station was eliminated in 1990, following Mobil’s replacement by Conoco.
