Visitation Scheduled For Tuesday (June 28, 2005) DES MOINES, Iowa -- The funeral for a Des Moines doctor who died while cycling in a national bike race Thursday will take place next week. Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton's Funeral home in West Des Moines. The funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Plymouth Congregational Church at 4126 Ingersol Ave, in Des Moines. Breedlove died when he was riding cross-country in the 24th Annual Race Across America endurance race, which takes just over a week to complete. Breedlove, an orthopedic surgeon from Des Moines, holds the RAAM tandem record. The race began on June 19. Breedlove was an accomplished cyclist. He rode across the U.S. several times. He also once rode the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) -- a weeklong ride across the state -- in one day.
