Elizabeth Dixon was in perfect position to win the race she covets most.
Dixon was in the lead heading into the final lap of the Women’s Pro CAT 1/2/3 race Saturday at the Snake Alley Criterium.
Then, halfway through the final circuit, disaster struck.
As Dixon made the turn for the final climb up Snake Alley, the chain on her bike slipped. That gave Gabriela Guerra the only break she needed.Guerra went on to win the race, while Dixon recovered to finish second.
