One local food pantry's fundraiser had its attendees pedaling their bikes all across Polk County.

The Urbandale Food Pantry's "Pedal for the Pantry" event on Sunday raised funds to fight hunger by providing food and other supplies to people in need.

The event designated three routes for the ride, but attendees were invited to ride wherever they wanted to at their own pace.

By the start of the ride, the food pantry had raised nearly all of its $40,000 goal to get food and other supplies to those who need it most.

Urbandale Food Pantry executive director Patty Sneddon-Kisting said the participants got discounts at breweries along the route for participating.
