JUNE 23rd 2007 RUN - BIKE - EAT PIE

Everyone who can walk, run, bike or eat pie is invited to share the fun and fight cancer at Penny’s PIEATHLON! It’s an event similar to a triathlon but substitute the swimming with a piece of pie. The first annual Penny’s Pieathlon will be held Saturday, June 23 in Adel. The event includes a walk/run, bike ride and a slice of homemade pie. Participants have the opportunity to choose between a one mile walk, 5K or 10K run for the run/walk portion of the event, the choice of a 10, 23 or 31-mile bike ride and the option of purchasing a piece of pie along the route from the Adel Lions Club and local vendors. The Lance Armstrong Foundation has scheduled the Pieathlon as an official Team LiveSTRONG training event! ALL the proceeds will be distributed; half to the Lance Armstrong Foundation and half to the Iowa funds including the John Stoddard Cancer Center and Mercy Cancer Center. Local groups have the opportunity to provide pie stands, food & drink vendors, a beer tent or garden, entertainment and related activities. How to Register: Online registration is $25 and available at www.pieathlon.com. Mail-In Registration is only $18 if the attached entry form is mailed and postmarked by June 1.
