WHAT: The Central Iowa Bicycle–Pedestrian Roundtable, made up of trail leaders from multiple counties in central Iowa, asks citizens to participate in a survey to name central Iowa’s trail system. WHEN: Tuesday, December 19, 2006 WHERE: An online survey is live on the following website for the public to help evaluate four potential names or offer their own suggestion: TAKE THE SURVEY (it will take less than 1 minute!) DETAILS: The Central Iowa Bicycle-Pedestrian Roundtable is working on a communications master plan for the regional trails system. As part of this plan, the Roundtable has proposed four potential names for the trail system. Naming the system is vital in creating national recognition for our extensive interconnected trail system throughout the region. The first step is to determine a name for our comprehensive trail system. Current individual trail names will not change. Citizens will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite trail name until January 6, 2007. The survey results will be used in determining the name which will be announced via public event to be determined in January ’07. One of the primary goals of the region is to make central Iowa the “Trails Capital of the World.” The local terrain, with rolling hills, scenic waterways, prairies, and forests, provides an excellent environment for recreational cycling, running, skating, and walking.
