Celebrate Bike Month in May. If you cannot Bike to Work, Bike after Work, Bike before Work. Run errands, ride recreationally and get your friends and co-workers involved.

When is Bike to Work Week and Day?

The League of American Bicyclists is the national sponsor of Bike Month, and this year Bike to Work Week is May 16-22 and Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 20th 2022.

Bike Month Promotion

Help promote bicycling this May and every month! The League has free Bike Month promo tools like logos, posters and banners to place on your Web site this May. Printer files can also be requested at communications@bikeleague.org.

How Do We Celebrate Bike Month?

Since we are still working from home most days, we bike to as many events as we can including many errands, training and fun rides as we can! It's all about using your bicycle for daily usage!

National

From the League of American Bicyclists - May is National Bike Month, a celebration of biking as transportation, as recreation, as essential to our well-being and everyday lives. May is also when the National Bike Challenge kicks off, and the challenge continues through September.In 2022, Bike to Work Week is May 16-22, with Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 20, 2022.

Iowa has several Bike Month Events and Commuter Challenges. These are the cities and resources that are promoting Bike Month this year!

Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids Bike to Work Week events kick off.

Des Moines
The Street Collective is offer a full month of events! Most are on the BIKEIOWA calendar. Make sure to follow the Street CollectiveFacebook page for a list of events and further updates! Download your Bike Month passport to start earning stamps!
Bicyclists ride DART for free in May

Iowa City

Find all the events plan on Bike Iowa City’s event calendar. The Bicyclist of Iowa City also host rides out of and around North Liberty. Sugar Bottom Bikes hosts rides throughout the year, including a ride to Reds (with 20+ miles of gravel in between) starting at 6 p.m. each Wednesday and a longer gravel ride starting at 8 a.m. each Saturday.

Urbandale
Join the City of Urbandale, Iowa at the new large shelter at Walnut Creek Regional Park on Saturday, April 30, for the Mayor’s Bike Ride! This is a FREE event, simply register at www.Urbandale.org/ride-reg

Marion
After a two-year hiatus, the cities of Marion and Cedar Rapids are bringing back Bike to Work Week events. Find out more.
