After 21 years in their old location at 4700 4th St. SW in Mason City, Wayne’s Ski & Cycle has moved into a new location that is more centrally located in Mason City. The new location is 4 miles East of the old store and places them in an area of Mason City that has more commuters and foot-traffic.
The retail space of the new store is 8,000 square feet which is similar to the the old store, but they've eliminated their offsite ski warehouse and built a new 6,000 square foot warehouse connected to the retail space so everything is now at the same site.
Wayne's officially opened at 10:00am on January 2nd 2020 after 6 months of renovation. "A complete gut job" according to owner, Matt Curtis (see photos for before and after).
Wayne's will still carry the same bicycle lines and will add more active-wear like North Face and Patagonia to support the active lifestyle these days.
They'll also continue to sponsor community rides such as the Monday Night group ride from their shop and events/organizations such as Bicycle Blues and BBQ, Cannonball ‘Cross, North Iowa Touring Club, and Spin Devo Junior Race Team.

On November 1, 1976, Tyrol Ski and Sports opened in Mason City. Six years and 11 months later, the store moved to a downtown location and became Wayne’s Ski and Cycle owned and operated by Wayne Blaisdell. In 1998, the store moved to a new location on the West end of town near where the movie theater is now. Spring 2004 brought about a change of owners, with Matt Curtis buying the store from Wayne but keeping the business name. 21 years later they moved into the new location.
Today, they continue to strive to provide new opportunities and technologies that they believe will benefit their customers. From motion sensing cameras and lasers using Specialized’s RETUL for bike fitting to our premium stone grinder for servicing skis and snowboards, their employees have the expertise and experience to provide the right experience for you.
