Recap/Results
A smaller group of adult baggers hit the A2W Trail (recently officially named the "High Trestle Trail") bound for Madrid with a stop at Slater along the way. Oh yeah, a stop at the new gazebo near Polk City was first.
A couple of beers there, then to "good times" in Slater for food-n-brew, then off to Madrid on the new trail.
Once in Madrid, we took a left on the first major road and hit "Who's Lounge". They had $5.00 pitchers of Fat Tire! good stuff. They really enjoyed the cyclist coming through and welcomed us back.
Back on the trail after a couple hour stop we found ourselves in Slater again. After that stint the group ind of broke up and we all headed for home at dark-thirty.
If you have not ridden the "High Trestle Trail" yet, get out there! It is a good time!
Description
Just Plain Fun
Distance - 30 -40 miles or so
FLAMINGO de Madrid
is a classic kickoff to the summer ride season sponsored by The ACME International Bike Club. For almost 20 years we have invited cyclists to join us for a day of biking with a touch of party. This is an adult ride for the fun of it. This year, with the opening of the new a2w trail, we’re putting a new twist on Acme’s traditional Flamingo Ride by heading over to Madrid as well on the trail.
Route
We'll start on the streets in Ankeny and make our way to Madrid via the new Ankeny-Woodward trail.
