RACE DIRECTOR REPORT

Hello everyone!

I’d like to start by saying thanks for all the great emails checking in on me to see how I’m doing. As most of you know, I left the race area before it finished. It turns out that with all the setup going on the week before the race and running around on race day, I ended up feeling worse than most of the racers by experiencing a case of exhaustion. (At least I didn’t get any poison ivy.) So I listened to the family and friends and EMT’s and was taken home around 5:30PM. But I’m glad to say that after 14 hours of sleep and a large Papa John’s pizza, I’m back on track again. But I was pretty bummed out that I wasn’t able to see everyone and visit at the end of the race like last year.

We would like to again thank all the sponsors for their donations to the race and allowing us to put on the event. We hope the 1st place teams in the 4-person coed division enjoy their new Salomon XA Pro 3D shoes. (Those are what I wear when racing.) A thanks to Scheel’s for the $50 gift cards for the 2nd place prizes and Irwin’s for the 3rd place prizes. Of course none of this would have happened without the support from Camp Wesley Woods. Again their hospitality was extraordinary, not to mention their spaghetti dinner for the long course. It seems that everyone was talking about their bread all night long. We’ve already heard a lot of racers thanking Zanfel for sponsoring the event as they are dealing with the after effects of poison ivy. If you have any good stories about their product and how it works, I’m sure they would love to hear about it. And of course all the other sponsors on the web page that donated items for the race prize drawing. Read the rest of the report...
