The Giro d'Italian Bicycle Ride is a celebration of vintage and modern Italian bicycles (ALAN, Bianchi, Cinelli, Colnago, De Rosa, Gios, Masi, Pinarello, Tommasini... you get the picture) though non Italian marques will not be turned away
Gather to show off and discuss the history of your current of favorite Italian frame builder or bicycle manufacture with like minded enthusiasts. Followed by relaxed pace ride out and back to Solon with stops at Odie's in Ely and Big Grove in Solon. The primary route is approximately 34 miles all trails to Solon and back. There will be a marked optional 6 mile "Maglia Azzura" climbers jersey loop to Lake Macbride State Park to pick up some extra hills on the way out.
General schedule:
09:00 AM - Gather at Kickstand for some meet, greet, show & tell. Kickstand does have breakfast is on the menu
10:30 AM - Bikes on to Odie's Bar & Grill in Ely (opens at 11:00 AM) for a brief dehydration stop
12:30 PM - Bikes on to Big Grove Brewpub in Solon for lunch. The "Maglia Azzura" loop to Lake Macbride State Park starts and ends at the roundabout with Ely Rd and Hwy 382 NE
03:30 PM - Bikes on for the return to Kickstand
This event will be highly dependent on good weather as I am not interested in getting any of my classic vintage Italian bikes covered in grime (and some paint and decals are very fragile)
This is an unsupported ride. Everyone please wear a helmet and avoid collisions with each other, the ground or other trail users and automobiles.
