VENUE
Join us at the George Davis Softball Park, a new venue and hidden gem in Des Moines’ Northeast side, where the cyclocross course weaves through natural landscapes, offering both participants and spectators an unforgettable experience. The venue’s design ensures an excellent spectator experience, allowing fans to cheer on the riders as they navigate the course's unique twists and turns. We used the George Davis Softball Field last year and loved the "back section"... Don't let the name fool you. The course will have more elevation than the name suggests. We all loved Mullets and Stone Park, but there is too much construction on those premises for a race this year. The race will happen rain or shine.
BEGINNER FRIENDLYHaven't raced before? This is a perfect place to see if you like cross. Show up early to get a little practice. Better yet, show up at the
Tuesday night practices and try it out! You don't even need a special bike. Mountain bikes and fat bikes work great. All you need is: two wheels, a brake on each wheel, a freewheel, and handlebar ends that do not point forward or up. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
SUPER SPECTATOR FRIENDLY
If you have never been to a cyclocross race, you are missing out! This is FREE entertainment at its best! There is action everywhere and you can watch the race from several vantage points! Kick back for an afternoon and watch cyclocross! Bring lawn chairs and park yourself, or walk about and check out the whole course.
PARKING
Plenty of parking at the venue - concrete parking lot
FROM OUT OF TOWN?
You are closer to Altoona's amenities than Des Moines where there are plenty of great restaurants and hotels.
