WHAT A GREAT DAY at Mullets !!

The Midstate Racing and BIKEIOWA Racing Teams set up a GREAT 3/4 mile course using Mullets green space. Tight and twisty was the name of the game. The relaycross stoke was HIGH as teams in costume navigated around the tight course. Some opted for the time-saving "shortcut" where you had to eat various object before continuing else you could ride a further distance and skip the "objects"...

Capital City Cross is one of the races that helped launch the Central Iowa Cyclocross scene.

Capital City Cross - Day #1 and CCXSSX will be held at Stone Park on Sept 24th and Day #2 will be held at Mullets with a grassroots vibe.

Sunday's events will consist of:
  1. 10 am - A Race - unsanctioned short-track cyclocross (NEW for 2022!)
  2. 11 am - B  Race - unsanctioned short-track cyclocross (NEW for 2022!)
  3. 12 pm - RELAYCROSS

The BIKEIOWA.com Racing Team and Midstate Racing know how to put on FUN, UNIQUE and EXCITING events. Yes - BIKEIOWA is collaborating with Midstate Racing Team to make ONE great weekend of Central Iowa Cyclocross with FOUR ways to participate!  Capital City Cross, CCXSSX, Short-track racing and Relaycross.

This year, ALL proceeds from Relaycross will go directly to the Des Moines Street Collective.

  • 9/13 - THANKS to Leo at Bastion Capital and Tad at Eastown Tire & Auto Care for covering the $500+ insurance policy for the day!

  • 8/29 - Added poster and announced charity we will ride for - the Des Moines Street Collective
  • 8/23 -  MORE details coming soon on start times, etc.
  • 8/23 - announced collaboration with Midstate Racing Team

If you weren't there in the past, you are probably wondering what Relaycross is?

The format is simple:  2 hours of cross racing with 4 teammates tagging in and out to pile on as many laps as possible before time runs out.  The team with the most laps wins.  FUN!

Three categories: mens, womens and coed (2 men 2 women)

This race is designed to be as serious or leisurely as you want.  You and your team can race all out or at a conversational pace.  It's all for a good cause.

Payouts?  Yep.  High fives, pride and good karma to everyone that enters.

Pre registration and online fees?  Nope! Day of only.

Do I need a license you ask? Nope!  This is a charity race people.  So please grab your donations and Join us on September 25th at Mullets.
