The Central City Post 37 Sons of Amvets invites you to enjoy a bike ride thru some scenic & historic countryside in preparation for the BIG Iowa ride. 40-60-100 mile routes thru the Wapsipinicon & Maquoketa river valleys. Riders start in Central City, designated a "Main Street Iowa" community and travel through several small towns before passing through the place Grant Wood once called home, Stone City. Many of Stone City's buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places. You will enter a second "Main Street Iowa" community of Anamosa & travel along the banks of the Wapsipinicon River in Wapsipinicon State Park before crossing over the 1879 Hale Bridge that was relocated to the park in 2006. In Anamosa the routes split to accommodate varying mileages. The longest route will stretch thru miles of Delaware County Scienic Byways & across the Maquoketa River at Lake Delhi. Well supported ride with water stops 10-15 miles apart. All riders end back in Central City & can enjoy the remainder of the day @ the 2019 Linn County Fair.
