Distance - Three distances: 60, 30 or 6 miles.

Pedal one of four routes through northwest Iowa countryside

Four routes for all cycling levels are being offered through the beautiful northwest Iowa countryside for the sixth annual Wellness on Wheels (WOW6) Bicycle Ride, including an all new gravel surface route.

The ride will be Saturday, June 4, during the Sioux Center Summer Celebration festival and the community’s 125th anniversary celebration.

All four routes will start at Children’s Park in Sioux Center. Welcome/aid stations with Gatorade, water and snacks for riders will be located along each route to rejuvenate the riders before heading back out onto the road.

The event also will include great prize giveaways, a complimentary T-shirt and a Casey’s breakfast pizza meal.

Route

The four routes are:

• A 60-mile route, departing at 7 a.m., will travel through scenic southwestern Sioux County through the communities of Hawarden and Ireton;

• A 30-mile route, departing at 8 a.m., will travel through the Sioux County countryside to Ireton and back;

• An all new 30-mile gravel surface route, departing at 8 a.m., will take riders on a large loop in rural Sioux County past some interesting features.

• A 6-mile Fun Ride, departing at 9 a.m., will travel to the Sandy Hollow Recreation Area and back on the Sioux Center Recreation Trail.

The cost through the early-bird deadline of Thursday, May 19, is $25 for the 30- and 60-mile rides and $10 for the 6-mile Fun Ride. The cost increases by $5 for each ride after that date until the start of the event.
