4) SEPTEMBER 11 REMEMBRANCE
Scott shares his memories of 09/11/2001. He speaks about John Moran, a New York City Fire Department (FDNY) Battalion Chief and a member of the RAGBRAI team "Team Escape From New York." Moran was killed in the 09/11 attacks.

Scott shared a haunting letter that was posted on 09/13/2001 providing updates about Team Escape from New York team members and part of John Moran's eulogy.

Scott goes on, to detail how many Iowans cared about the Morans and banded together to create the "Moran Family Benefit." Event founders were able to fly Moran's widow, Kim, and their two sons, Ryan and Dylan, to Iowa for the benefit. Through the benefit, Iowa cyclists were able to raise $50,000.00 for the family.

More info can be found online (but it's been almost 20 years and some of the links are broken): https://bikeiowa.com/Search/?searchword=Moran
