Join Scott from BIKEIOWA.com to hear about what's on his radar in the Iowa cycling scene this weekend. #FridayFives is a new series for Summer 2020 and we plan to share fun destinations, events and happenings each week.
This week, Scott put on a collared shirt for the first time, in, well, more than three months. He's rocking his Cumming Tap button-up for today's episode.
For Week #6, it is:
1) MASKS FROM PRIMAL WEAR
Our friends Primal Wear, Inc.are now offering washable masks. Primal 2.0 masks have plastic X-frames and a removable filter. We've long been fans of Primal and all our branded cycling gear is made by them.
Masks or face coverings aren't required in Iowa, but COVID-19 cases are rising much slower in states that require mask uses. We're not telling you what to do, but wearing a mask is an easy way to slow the pandemic spread.
These Primal masks are lightweight and comfortable. Find them online: https://www.primalwear.com/…/masks-mask…
2) NEW BICYCLE TRACK IN LITTLE ROCK
Little Rock, in far Northwest Iowa, has a brand new bicycle track in the City Park. The bicycle track is in memory of four-year old Griffin Engelkes, who was killed in Summer 2019 while crossing a rural road (as a pedestrian). The track has road signs and is a great place for kids to safely play.

3) FOLLOW YOUR FOLLY CRUISER 100 RIDE
In 2013, 2018 and 2019 the last Saturday in June was one of our favorites of the entire year as we hosted the New Belgium Brewing Follow Your Folly Cruiser 100 Ride. This year, it's just another on the long list of COVID-19 cancellations. Stay tuned for 2021. ;)
4) FIRECRACKER RIDE 2020
The Firecracker Ride 2020 will roll out from The Westside in Alden, Iowa on Saturday (06/27/2020) at 11:00AM. It's a 65-ish mile party ride mostly around Hardin County (which was supposed to host overnights for both RAGBRAI and Iowa's Ride).

5) MAINTENANCE ON RACCOON RIVER VALLEY TRAIL
The Raccoon River Valley Trail Association and Dallas County Conservation Board reports that there are a number of improvements taking place on the RRVT this year, including a bridge lighting project in Adel, Iowa and there will be some closures between Adel and Redfield through mid-summer. Please respect the construction areas and choose a different route if you see closures!
THAT’S IT FOR THIS WEEK ! You can find more information on all of these items by checking out https://bikeiowa.com/
And finally, it's still a pandemic. It's still important to SOCIAL DISTANCE!

Have a great weekend, RIDE SAFE and stay healthy!
