The Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa is about a month and a half away. Organizers of RAGBRAI are taking the time to make sure everything is safe and ready to go on the path.
A group of around 40 bicyclists are making their way through the route this week. They started earlier in the week, going across the route and staying at the overnight cities.
This year, RAGBRAI riders will find themselves staying in these towns overnight: Sioux City, Storm Lake, Carroll, Ames, Des Moines, Tama-Toledo, Coralville and Davenport. On Wednesday, bicyclists traveled from their stay in Ames to their next stay in Des Moines.
"We're watching the roads. We're talking to the community," said Matt Phippen, RAGBRAI's ride director. "We're basically spending time with towns."
