Iowa schools are being urged to register for Walk Bike Roll to School Day, taking place on May 3, 2023. This annual event promotes active transportation and encourages students to walk, bike, or roll to school, promoting physical activity, environmental sustainability, and community building.
Walk Bike Roll to School Day is a nationwide event that has been taking place for over a decade."Walk Bike Roll to School Day is a great way for students to get involved in their communities, get exercise, and help reduce their carbon footprint," said Matt Burkey of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition. "This is a great opportunity to get students excited about walking and biking, while also promoting a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle."
To participate in Walk Bike Roll to School Day, any individual can register their school online at the Walk Bike Roll website (walkbiketoschool.org). Once registered, schools will receive information and resources to help plan and promote their event, including posters and social media graphics.
