The Estherville City Council had a lengthy discussion this week looking at whether or not to send an application to the Iowa Department of Transportation asking to use highway right of way to expand a recreational trail.
The proposed expansion would be along a four block stretch of Highway 4 which City Administrator Penny Clayton says is slightly different than the original thinking on this idea.
Overall the council seemed to show favor of having some kind of trail including councilman Dave Seylar who was taking public safety into account.
