Helicopter called in to transport the bicyclist to Des Moines hospital

A bicyclist died from his injuries sustained in a car collision Sept. 23 in Newton.

Mark W. Adkins, 58, of Newton, was reportedly driving his bicycle at night down the middle of the road near the 3200 block of Highway S-74 South when the driver of a Ford Escape struck him.
