Construction of the Jerry Kelley Trail in Indianola will soon enter its third phase, which will extend it westward through the city.
The Indianola City Council voted on Monday to authorize an agreement with Snyder & Associates for engineering and design services on the third phase of the trail along West Iowa Avenue from Stephens Courtuntil North Kenwood Boulevard. In the current fiscal year the city expects to pay $58,000 for design and engineering and an estimated $355,000 for construction in fiscal year 2023.
Indianola Parks and Recreation Director Doug Bylund said at the city council meeting thatmuch of the design work will involve figuring out how the trail will traverse the properties it crosses since it has both paved portions off-road and sections that share the street with vehicles.
