Social media came to the rescue to help a Marshalltown family after a very special bicycle was stolen from their front yard.

Addie Bane planned a birthday celebration for her son Reed to ride the High Trestle Trail. But that morning, Reed's bike had gone missing. The Dyno Air bike was a meaningful birthday gift from his grandfather to his father and now was being passed down to Reed.

The day the bike disappeared would have been Reed's first day to ride it. The family took to Facebook to find it. A Dyno Air group shared the post.

Bane said within seconds all sorts of people were reaching out from all over the world to help.

After 600 shares, one tip led police to a Marshalltown home. When Reed got his bikehttps://www.kcci.com/article/facebook-members-come-together-to-locate-iowa-kids-stolen-bike/33527162 back, he shed tears of joy.

"It takes a village. Our village in Iowa is mighty," Bane said.
